eXelate Secures $4 Million from Carmel Ventures and Launches the eXelate Targeting Exchange

New exchange enables ad networks and vertical publishers alike to benefit from a marketplace of targeting data in the online advertising market

New York, NY, October 30, 2007 –eXelate, the creator of the world's first targeting data marketplace, today announced it has secured $4 million in first-round financing from Carmel Ventures and is launching the eXelate Targeting eXchange™. Shlomo Dovrat, Co-Founder and General Partner of Carmel Ventures, joins the Company’s board of directors.

The eXelate Targeting eXchange enables ad networks to increase the income earned from users of non-targeted sites by attributing to them targeting data based on prior visits to vertical sites. The targeted vertical publisher in turn benefits from a new revenue stream without giving up any advertising inventory and with no privacy concerns.

The eXelate Targeting eXchange is being used by more than 15 ad networks including four of the top-20 ranked ad networks according to comScore’s Ad-Focused Networks. Those ad networks gain direct access to more than 50 million unique users in lucrative verticals including Travel, Finance and Hispanic.

Based on eXelate’s patent-pending technology, the company is introducing a new online advertising solution known as Delayed Ads. An ad network buys from a targeted publisher the ability to set Delayed Ads to its users. Those Delayed Ads are shown later, when those users visit a site that is affiliated with the ad network. To ensure the user’s privacy, there is no data integration or cross-site information transfer, and user profiles are not created, as is common with most behavioral targeting networks. eXelate was founded in 2006 by two experienced online advertising entrepreneurs, CEO, Meir (Iri) Zohar and CTO, Elad Efraim. Mr. Zohar is the Founder and former CEO of Oridian, a leading online ad network which was founded in 1998. Mr. Zohar left Oridian at the end of 2006 as a profitable company with tens of million of dollars in sales. Mr. Efraim led Product Management in Oridian, and prior to that held leading R&D positions at Top Image Systems and the IDF.
